Bicheno Blowhole
Bicheno, Tasmania 2022
“This photo captures a fleeting but powerful moment on the wild coastline of Bicheno, Tasmania. At the centre, the blowhole erupts, a sudden burst of seawater shooting upward, while a solitary rock stands just beside it, like a quiet companion to all the action.
What I love about this scene is the unexpected symmetry between the two: the explosive movement of the blowhole mirrored by the still, grounded presence of the rock. That connection is echoed again in the reflection in the foreground pool, where both forms appear side by side in calm, mirrored water. It creates a kind of visual balance, movement and stillness, chaos and calm, all existing in the same moment.
The natural light brought out the soft textures in the rocks and helped highlight the reflection in the water. For me, this image is about being in the right place at the right time and noticing how even the most dramatic landscapes can reveal moments of quiet harmony.”

Artist - Jessica Mees
Jessica’s photographic journey began at an early age. Growing up in rural New South Wales, I was able to explore the beauty of the land, its animals, and the people around me. This fueled my passion to use photography as a medium for expressing my unique perspective of the world. To refine my craft as a photographer and artist, I studied for a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Arts and Design with a specialisation in Photography, followed by further studies in Professional Picture Framing.
My work as a photographer is dedicated to the art of storytelling, employing a diverse range of techniques and creative strategies to capture the essence of the world around me, spanning from captivating landscapes to mesmerizing portraits. From landscapes to portraits, memories to moments, my images are what I see in my life and I use these to connect with my viewers
