Gary McClintock
Gary McClintock aims to make the easily missed, unmissable. Walks around the carparks and alleyways of his home town of Whanganui, New Zealand, and other close towns, have yielded these images. The artefacts of building distress and repair provided opportunities to isolate details, framing to remove distractions revealing scenes that are so easily overlooked as hurrythrough our busy lives. Additions, illicit and approved, add opportunity for unintended stories. Gary holds a Fellowship from the Photographic Society of New Zealand. His photographic practice is very much the search these compositional opportunities.
Gary is part of the Bricolage Collective, alongside Noelle Bennett and Henrik Muller. Bricolage is a French word which means ‘to tinker’ and generally refers to the construction or creation of a piece of art using a diverse range of non-standard or imagined materials or techniques. Noelle, Henrik and Gary create very different images in innovative ways to inject new meanings and insights into ‘Into.the.Wild’ of New Zealand.
