Jim Gavin

Event poster for an art photography exhibition titled 'Twenty Five in the Landscape', featuring Jim Gavin. The poster has a scenic photo of a tree in a body of water with mountains in the background. The exhibition is at M2 Gallery, 450 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills.

Images rather than words have always appealed to Jim Gavin for as long as he can remember. From a young age reading a book or a magazine was about flicking through the pages and staring at the pictures. These days little has changed.

Whilst hitchhiking through Canada and Europe in the 80’s, Jim was drawn to the art of photography and on his return it quickly became a hobby that he continues to enjoy today.

In recent years, more time has allowed Jim to sharpen his skills and some might say that this hobby has become quite the obsession. Based in Sydney’s north west, Jim uses long exposures to capture the landscapes and seascapes he loves to photograph.

Inspired by and in awe of so many wonderful photographers Jim is driven to improve his craft, learn new techniques, and to explore and appreciate new places that in the past he would never have considered. Jim hope’s you enjoy his images as much as he enjoys creating them.
