Gillian Chan

Gillian Chan, has a passion for slow photography with a vision for capturing “depth of feeling” to create emotive images that go beyond the predictable. That “slow lane” is a process of creating ethereal magic using ‘vintage style’ manual lenses or optics and hand held tools to create special effects while shooting, right in the camera.

From a humble Kodak Instamatic camera as a child, to shooting and developing film in college, it was during the challenges of the Pandemic in 2020 that she discovered her passion for creative flower photography. She began growing flowers from seed and chased natural light through every season, to create images with an ethereal quality where ‘softness meets soul’. This slow creative process, where nature and creativity meet in the camera, became her delightful place of deep serenity and fulfilment.

Gillian’s images are regularly featured by the innovative Lensbaby Company. Her images have been published in the last four of the annual photography yearbooks for “Click Love Grow”. Since 2024, she has been a successful contributor to the annual Incognito Art Show.

Her love of nature has motivated her to use her photography in supporting wildlife conservation causes.

She is based in Sydney.
